Really one of the most

Really one of the most interesting topics I have ever seen.

The first thought that came to my mind after reading the title is that it should include INDIA but then if we look around our neighbors the phenomena is not different either but its has gone out of proportion in India.

It’s sad but very true that politicians never retire in India even after reaching the age when human mind don’t like to think much and just want to relax. Experience people are always required in each aspect of life but beyond a certain age they need to clear the path for the younger generation else the society‘ll move in a slow peace and that’s what happening in India.

There are too many reasons to say that politicians should retire after a certain age but will that ever happen in india???
I seriously doubt.

Politicians should retire at

Politicians should retire at some age (say 65 / we should have a national debate on the retirement age), and there should be also some qualification and experience criteria for contesting elections.

Though I don’t take the point that at 70 or 80 your mind stops working, people loses memory etc . but I believe in that fact that its difficult for old people to know what the younger generation needs…and I firmly believe that after certain age people lost the enthusiasm of working hard and that’s for the society is very small

In my opinion, we
In my opinion, we shouldn’t set a retirement age for politicians. Everyone should be allowed to participate in politics provided they are physically and mentally fit to take the challenge of serving for the society. But yes we can reduce the average age of a politician if more and younger, energetic, dynamic persons enter politics.

This can happen only when we all Indians will be aware of our political scenario and will come out to vote on elections.

Awareness of current political scenario and willingness to contribute for a national change is important.

We have a history of older
We have a history of older people ruling our country.
Moraji Desia at 81,
Monmohan Singh at 76,
IK Gujaral at 78 and
Vajpayee at 74.
In fact, Indian democracy provides a stark contrast between the average age profile of the politicians and that of the people: India has 80 per cent its politicians well over 70, while 70 per cent of the country's population is below 40 years of age. Senior politicians, including Advani, in different parties have acquired larger-than-life images, simply because of their length of stay and not for any sacrifices made by them.

age doesnt matter

I Strongly feel that age is not the matter of concern here unless the politicians put their thinking caps to build our nation toa anew level. Its their ideas and innovations which is important and not the age.Yes,opportunity should be given ti younger generations but a mix of experiance and young guns would put our country in the development MAp no sooner than ever

politicians do not retire

When somebody says that politicians should retire at 65 or so so as to make way for younger minds to take on the task of nation building, I instantly remember the contributions of certain veterans  like Smt Indira Gandhi, Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and the present PM Mr Manmohan Singh in our political landscape. Certainly age has probably contributed to their better understanding of the politics and governance. How then, can one think of brining in the concept of age  as a barometer of their performance. Instead we should think of devising ways to keep the inefficient, corrupt and bad elements , young or old, away from this arena.

Well i would agree to the

Well i would agree to the point that age should not be the sole criteria for deciding whether a person can stay in politics or not. In the present political scenario of our country, it is not age which is creating the problem but it is lack of sincerity and dedication to the job which they are expected to do when they are elected by the people. No matter what the age is, it is the moral principles which should drive the politicians. yes, it is true that there should be a right mix with senior politicians guiding the young generation and giving enough scope to them for entering into politics.
