GD Topic 15: Obama : India's Perspective- favourable or neutral or worst?

Obama wants to resolve only the common issues which will help america like he want that terriorism is a issue which india and america will try to resolve . Also he is in favour of nuclear deal but does not want any changes in proliferation treaty. so as obama a president he is neutral for india.we as indians should not expect much from him.

India's Domestic Economy

Obama very well aware of the fact that India is growing fast ,its domestic economy is strong and fundamentals are well reharsed.Instead of having ties with European nations ,keeping the long term planning then both USA and India will benefit ,that is what Obama must have planned

Obama : India's Perspective- favourable or neutral or worst?

there is another point which i would like to touch upon. It is pertaining to the kashmir issue.
Obama did hint at 'resolving' the kashmir deadlock , which implies that the US would like to have their presence felt a bit more in the sub-continent . This is not a very welcome news for the indian government as India has always kept foreign influence on the kashmir quagmire at bay. I believe there are certain matters regarding which Obama's tactics could pose a problem for India. But then this is just the beginning of his tenure.....

“I believe India is a strategic partner of the U.S. in 21st century”

Above statement by Barack Obama shows his attitude towards India. He has gone on to say that a strong relationship with India in all important matters will be his top priority.

One thing that I personally believe would change is the way US used to neglect the Pakistan involvement in all terrorism activities aimed towards India.

Below is the  Obama team's official statement on Mumbai terrorist attack
"President-Elect Obama strongly condemns today's terrorist attacks in Mumbai, and his thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and the people of India. These coordinated attacks on innocent civilians demonstrate the grave and urgent threat of terrorism. The United States must continue to strengthen our partnerships with India and nations around the world to root out and destroy terrorist networks.  We stand with the people of India, whose democracy will prove far more resilient than the hateful ideology that led to these attacks,” said Brooke Anderson, Chief National Security Spokesperson
Obama is also in favor of increasing H1B as he sees it’s always beneficial in long run for the US to attract the best brains of the world.
On foreign policy and security issues, Obama promises a less arrogant, aggressive and unilateralist US -- a welcome departure from the Bush-McCain approach. Obama has promised to withdraw troops from Iraq over 16 months. This is a major and worthy step --although one must hope that the US won't maintain a substantial military presence in Iraq, including bases and advisers.
