i bet u cant do this one!!!

f(x) is any function and f -1(x) is known as inverse of f(x), then f -1(x) of f(x)=1/x +1 is

a) 1/x  -1              b)  x-1             c)  1/(x-1)            d)  1/(x+1)              e)  none of these

ans:  f(x)  = 1/x + 1
             => 1/x  =f(x) - 1
             =>x=f(x) - 1

So the inverse is x -1 ans b

With all due respect, what z the meaning of the title of this post.... truely speaking this sort of easy qs never come in MAT forget abt CAT

thanx
just wanted to attract attention to my query hence that kind of subject ...... even i got 'b' as the answer ...
but one of the textbooks gives c as the answer.... just wanted to confirm
thanx a lot

the ans is c

f(x)=1/x+1
1/x=f(x)-1
x=1/(f(x)-1)
thus inverse is 1/(x-1)
hence the answer is (c)

f(x) is any function and f -1(x) is known as inverse of f(x),

Let,
y=f(x)
y=1/x+1
=>1/x=y-1
=>x=1/(y-1)
=>f-1(x)=1/(x-1)
Opton (c) is correct. No problem with the option.
P.S:@Alivia: Though Im not well acquainted  MAT standard but I think this kind of demarcation is not applied for CAT. Anything from anywhere can come.

Giv ur best to the world.
Nd d best will cm back to u..

Dipanjan....
