 In a class , 25% of the students were absent for an exam. 30% failed by 20 marks and 10% just passed because of grace marks of 5. find the average score of the class if the remaining students scored a average of 60 marks and the pass marks are 33 (counting the final score of the candidates)

A. 37.266                  B. 37.6                   C. 37.8                         D. 36.93                    E. 37.5

ANSWER:

25% absent => present 75x

30% failed by 20=> score = 13 and Total score = 30 x 13 = 390

10% passed with 5 grace marks=> score = 28 and Total score = 10 x 28 = 280

Remaining 35% got 60 marks => Total score = 35 x 60 = 2100

Total mark = 2770

Average = 2770/75 = 36.93 D

hello the answer to Q. 2 is

hello
the answer to Q. 2 is B.37.6 As it has been specified to consider the final score ,so it is 33 for the students who passed with grace marks.
Thus,390+330+2100/75 =(2820/75)*100 = 37.6%

and for Q. 1 ,i myself dont know the answer.

3. Hans and Bhaskar hav salaries that jointly amount to Rs. 10000 per month. They spend the same amount monthly  and then it is found that the ratio of their savings is 6 : 1. Which of the following is Hans's salary?

A. 6000                    B. 5000                    C.4000                        D.3000

puneet_champ is corrrect the question seems to be incorrect or missing some data

Let Hans's saalry be 3000 and their saving = x then

(3000-x)/(7000-x) = 1/6

=> x = 2200

again Let Hans's saalry be 4000 and their saving = x then

(4000-x)/(6000-x) = 1/6

=>x = 3600

so all the values are possibe

the answer for Q 3 is B. 6000

B is the only possible ans. , as the ratio is 6:1 not 1:6 .

so ,it goes as , let savings be 6x and 1 x

for A. 6000-6x = 4000-1x

          2000=5x => x=400

      possible

B. 5000-6x =5000-x

  0=5x

not possible

C.4000-6x=6000-x

5x=-2000

D. 3000-6x= 7000-x

    5x=-4000 ,again negative is not possible

Total investment for 1st year

Total investment for 1st year comes out to be 250000+5000+2000 = 257000
15% of 257000 = 38550
38550/12 = 3212.5

 4. The population of a

 4. The population of a village is 5500. If the no. of males increases by 11% and the no. of females increases by 20%, then the population becomes 6330. Find the population of females in town?

                M  +                F = 5500                  ----> (1)
111/100 M + 120/100 F = 6330                 ----> (2)

multiply the (1) with 111/100,

111/100 M            +         111/100  F    =   110/100 (5500)   = 6105    -----> (3)

Subtract (3) from (2),
9/100 F = 225
F =( 225 * 100) / F  = 2500

Total female members are 2500.
