To produce one unit of
To produce one unit of product A, 9 units of x and 12 units of y are required, while to produce one unit of B, 6 units of x and 18 units of y required

i.e A = 9x + 12y
       B = 6x + 18y

Year 99
Total x = 15,000 =>  Available x for A = 3/5 x 15,000 = 9,000
                               And Available x for B = 2/5 x 15,000 = 6,000

Total y = 30,000 =>  Available y for A = 2/5 x 30,000 = 12,000
                                   And Available x for B = 3/5 x 30,000 = 18,000

So total number of A in 1999 is     1000
As A = 1000 x 9 + 1000 x 12
And B = 1000 x 6 + 1000 x 18

Year 2000
Total x = 22,500 =>  Available x for A = 3/5 x 22,500 = 13,500
                               And Available x for B = 2/5 x 22,500 = 9,000

Total y = 45000 =>  Available y for A = 2/5 x 45,000 = 18,000
                                     And Available x for B = 3/5 x 45,000 = 27,000

So total number of A in 1999 is     1500
As A = 1500 x 9 + 1500 x 12
And B = 1500 x 6 + 1500 x 18

So percentage increase in sales = (1500 – 1000)/1000 x 100   = 50%

evaluation in this site is incorrect

Please solve and upload your answers so that both of us can check whether we are correct or not................

By the way your soluion was on the same lines as mine
but one doubt is that dont you think in this question
of A,B,x,y the qty of A will always be equal to B................Think about it and revert back.......

Here it seems the quantity

Here it seems the quantity of A is same as B.

<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]-->

But it can be different as Availability of x and y determines it

Q15. and Q16.

Profits per employee

JAN = (30 - 28 )/11 = 2/11

MAR= (33 - 31 )/12 = 2/12

JULY = (37 - 34.25)/14 = 2.75/14

and

SEPT = (39 - 36)/16 = 3/16

So in JULY it is heighest

and profit is highest in september.

This is not tough question. Only problem is the fig is not that clear. In CAT you wont face this problem

@ somroop

All the values of x and y are given in such a way that A and B are always same.

 @ ALL
One more question on the same data set from me

 What is the percentage growth in the total revenue of company LMN from 1999 to 2003? (Consider revenue = Total sales)
