how to solve the following question

6. The number of ways one can put three balls numbered 1 , 2 and 3 in three boxes labeled a , b and c such that at the most one box is empty is equal to

  • a. 6
  • b. 24
  • c. 42
  • d. 28
  • e.Not Attempted

I think the ans is 3! + 3C2

I think the ans is

3! + 3C2 x  2C1 x 3  =  24

so the ans is  (b)  24

pls post whether the ans is correct or not

total number of ways = 33

number of ways, when two boxes are empties = 3

ans. 24
