The idea that subhash

The idea that subhash chandre has taken is i think due to frustation. It would very difficult that icl would be a great success as the player here are mostly retired and icl does not have that kind of infrastructure that u find on normal ground.Currently happening icl had hardly created any response among the audience, more people are rather watching test match.

In last couple of days I

In last couple of days I have read with interest most of the articles and comments in different newspapers, magazines, blog etc. What I found (of curse to my surprise) that most of them have been supportive to ICL while a few are criticizing them. But at the end of the inaugural series if any one is to blame for the meek response of the ICL through out the country, then it’s only the organizers. I don’t understand what happened to them after the initial hype and advertisement.

The main two reasons I can think of for the disappointment of ICL is
a. Test matches against Pakistan
b. Lack of media interest in ICL.

But I love the concept of ICL and will promote it to my potential and I think all the true cricket lover of our country ‘ll agree with me. we have been playing cricket for the past many decades but few things have never changed . .
1. Player not playing in international matches have never got their due share of fame money and etc.
2. We have never been able to produce regular good fast bowlers.
3. Never been able to setup a professionally controlled governing body.
4. No interest of Indian in domestic criket
5. and so on
All these problems are correlated and I am not saying ICL or any such body ‘ll solve all the problems but at least its giving some alternate to the professional.

I think the govt should come forward and ensure that any one playing good in any form of the game should be given equal chances to represent the country with out any bias.

ICL-

Hi,

I think that ICL will evolve slowly and steadily.  At this stage, one should not compare it with our national cricket team. It needs time to grow.  But, yes, ICL should get more and more of young players. Matches will lose its commercial value with old and retired player playing in it!

Subhash Chandra is not Kerry Packer
Hi,

yes ICL has not been able to create that kind of impact as Packer's rebel series did. Packer innovated the game which Sadly Chandra failed. I mean except flashy team names and some intriguing ads there were no innovations. It was just like another 20-20 game.

Perhaps this accounted in not generating the craze. Moreover in Packer's rebel series, most of them were "in" players here its group of people who have either retired(non-indians) or fringe players. Just imagine the craze had Jadeja or Azhar or even Manjayrekar would have participated. It would have been huge. I dont think there were much crowd pullers except Lara, Crains, Inzy, Mc Millan or "Zullu".

But yes, it will initiate a interest in our domest circuit. The fielding in whatever matches I have seen are superb. Umpiring was great too. What didn't tick well was the grounds but thats understandable condering the grounds thay have play in.

Kudos to Chandra, for doing a superb job but it could have been better. But innovations is the need of the hour. Look at the PHL, considering the state of Indian hockey this innovative stance has done good. Lets hope at the end of the day cricket wins.

Ciao, Subhashis

ICL which led to IPL..what else can gauge its success

Think of this..the big heads of BCCI arguing length and breadth over the format of a game which nervously took birth 2 years later than actually it should have. Credit goes not to the Team India for winning the T20 world cup..but to Chandra's ICL which forced India's most profit making body to expose to the people of India, their insecurity and vulnarability exising within. The BCCI is playing a 'negative line' by not allowing players to join ICL. How can anybody justify saking of Kapil Dev (better player than all the person sitting at the helm and taking decisions) from the chairmanship of NCA.

As rightly said, innovation is the key to success. Money is not criteria. Do anybody think that Lara joined ICL just for money? Its the craze and love for the game and by no means the madness and the involvement of the players were less in any of the matches of ICL.

The final Impact of ICL is

The final Impact of ICL is not really great, at least not what I expected. What it did is forced an ineffective body like BCCI to throw away $$$ to many over paid cricketers in India by starting IPL.

I am not against the concept of IPL. But it couldn’t have been arranged in a much better way or BBCI could have spent the same money in restructuring Ranji and Duleep Ttopy matches. The money could have invested in grass root level – like building cricket grounds in school/college/university level. The facility available in all most all the grounds is not adequate to handle international matches, BCCI could have spent the money in many different ways but alas they decided to teach a lesson to all the cricketers who have opt for ICL.

I agree with secondharsa and think the time has come up for the government’s intervention in cricket. . I really don’t understand why players playing IPL cant represent team INDIA.

about ICL

I toyally agree with ur ideas about ICL..I've also seen the matchs of ICL but they were not so good..most of the players are either retired from international cricket or are new..

ICL

ICL was a great idea. Cricket sells in India. ICL will be a great sucess in India.

failure of ICl

i personally think that with the coming of IPL as a mega event, ICL is soon going to see its doom days..... i am a resident of panchkula... 30 matches happened on the trot widout any break at one single venue.. how can one expect that the stadium will be full in every match.. in the second edition they had 2 more grounds.. but failed to get any kind of good support.. moreover media has not helped their cause.. there were no news about the event.. i think management of ICL has to re-think its stratregy before taking up important decisions... they are trying to compete wid IPL.. one can be rest assured IPL is here for a long time.. nobody can, in india, now start a league of this kind. but we have to give credit to subhash chandra for this cricket league concept.. Aakhir IPL nikla toh ICL mein se hi hai.. if ICL wudnt have happened its for sure IPL wudnt have happened for another 5 years.
