Hi,
I started my journey from a small town as a back bencher. Completed my schooling from a non reputed school and after that got my btech degree again from a non reputed institution. All through I was average.
It all started after finishing my graduation degree. I realized where I am, while standing on the tail of the big queues for job. Then I started my journey to technical world. Today I am a senior software developer in a company, people calls greatest in the field of Information Technology.
Now come to the point. I am loosing my interest in software development and all steady cycle where I have entered. I feel I can do much more what I am doing.
The point, why I am writing, after many calculations I have decided to go for opting a degree from an institution that is called great for its infrastructure, I don have that craze that it must have to be IIM.
Now, my question is that, will my profile be able to find the scope of evaluation among so many truly exceptional students and professionals. As I feel, in last 4.5 years of my working environments and last 3 companies, really there are peoples who you can say good. There I am a backbencher like me having very poor scores in my schooling and having grad from a poor institution.I WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS THE "D" CRITERIA.
Is there anybody from any good understanding on this account, can please answer me? I want an honest answer. Will really be thankful,
Regards,
Angshuman

IMHO, no institute gives a damn value to your profile unless you get a gd/pi call (except S. P. Jain/Grate lake/ISB)
IIM’s do give some importance to the percentages you have scored from HS to Gradduation/PG while issuing out GD/PI calls and the number of work-ex. But the name of the school/college/organization is never given that much worth in initial phase.
It’s only during the interview you can impress with your work-ex or name of the inst (like IIT). . Well with 4.5 yrs of work-ex (I guess few years in onsite and a package of 7-8 pa) you should not think abt from where you did complete your grad/pg. .
I don’t really find a reason why tecchies are so interested in earning an MBA degree (though I have one such useless degree) . . try to find out first why you want to do an MBA ? only bcz you are bored of working as a technical person (then you can easily get bored working as MBA may be in 1-2 years). . or just bcz of the hype created around you. .
