India is a developing country. The problem of development in under developing countries like India is the proper utilization natural and human resource available to the community. Even though India has developed a lot in science & technology, agriculture, defense and other sectors, it has not achieved what it could have in last 60 years.
The three basic problems: poverty, education and medical facilities still exist all round the country. The gap between rich and poor is just widening and we all are responsible for that.
No need to get emotional but I guess the main problem is with our society and mind set. No one is ready to give valuable 60 mins to the society Out of 60 of years of life.
India,a country which is admired for its unique culture and civilisation.
India will remain a developing country, but will never ever going to become a developed country like USA,Japan,Etc.,Reason being, well there are many to quote.
First and the foremost reason according to me is RESERVATIONS.
Poor but better than China, South Korea and Other Asian Countries.
Still Poor and Countries like China, South Korea and Other Asian Countries are way ahead
Politics and Politicians
Do I need to write anything?
And if you are like another . . . . .. teenager then go back to your history book and read about our charismatic political leader
Who we have right now???
Foreign Exchange
India had a reasonably good foreign exchange reserves
We still have but we cant forget our condition of yearly nineties
Sports
At least there was one sports (Hokcey) where we didn’t have any competitors except our own nehibour.
We go out only to loose in cricket, hockey, any other sports you mention
Rural India
Indians in the rural areas were very poor with virtually no education and awareness yet were very industrious and honest without greed and jealousy
The rural India is corrupted by politicians and half-educated political motivated youths.
Crime
Literally nothing compared to what we have today.
Problem arising because of terrorism and militancy is excusable to some extent. But what is happening internally – From where these bhais, gangs, underworld, mafia etc came from.??
Elite Class
The elite class was mostly educated the British way and influenced by the British elite and socialists who were anti-American and therefore Indians became anti-American
As it was in 1947. I don’t have any complain about them but how many of those top 40 families (which income accounts almost 25% of our GDP) is giving back anything to our society.
Regional/ linguistic and Provincial feelings
It was very strong but still we had leaders like Gandhiji , Neheru , Shastriji to whom each Indian looked with great respect.
Its has not completely eradicated but still has lessened a bit.
Education
Most of the universities and other prime institutes were made just after independence.
Literacy rate/no of engineers/doctors have definitely increased but the numbers could have been much more.
Nevertheless, we have some achievement in this aspect
INDIA-A COUNTRY WHICH WILL TOP D WORLD IN COMING TIME.WITH D PRESENT WORKD WHICH SHE IS DOING SHE WILL DEFINITELY TOP D WORLD.BUT ON D OTHER HAND THERE IS A GREAT NEED TO KEEP AN EYE ON ALL THINGS ANG TYPES OF WORKS THAT SHE IS PERFORMING.IF WE ALSO HELP OUR COUNTRY IN PERFORMING THIS DIFFICULT TASKS THEN DEFINITEY OUR COUNTRY WILL TOUCH THE SKY.

I guess no need to explain how it affects?
Reservation is one of the reasons but I guess its more do with our culture and mind set of masses.
Here are my top 5 reasons for lack of development (and thus indias position at age 60)
1. Corruption.
2. Lack of good politicians.
3. Citizen’s attitude towards the nation.
4. Illiteracy.
5. Religion and Religious Organizations
Current status of State
1. India accounts for 40 % of the world’s poor. ( 34.7 % of the Indian population lives with an income below $ 1 a day and 79.9 % below $ 2 a day.)
2. 50% Indian women are still illiterate.
3. Only 350 universities compared to 4000 in Japan
4. Total bribe transaction accounts to $5 billion.
5. 40,000+ murders every year.
6. The Human Development Report for 2007-08 released by the UNDP ranked India 128 out of 177 countries.
. . . .

Never gets more than 1 medal in Olympic …………
Kya Paya Kya Khoya
