It’s my pleasure!!! But my answer was wrong. . While writing the explanation(as given below) I came across some diff perm/comb. . still I am not sure if this is the correct ans. . . .may be you can find out where I am wrong while reading it. . Any how my approach was :
While trying to figuring out the possible values I kept only one thing in mind “the year got be less than 2001 and the possible values of months are from 1-12; date : 1-31”
First for month (position A) : 01, 02, 03, - - - - -, 12
For Date (position B) : 01, 02, 03, - - - - -, 31
For first two digits of year (position C) : 00, 01, 02, 03, - - - - -, 19 (20 is the maximum value as the year is less than 2001)
To be in palindrome digits of B and C should be opposite of each other i.e
For B = 01 , C =10
So possible values of C reduced to 01, 10, 11, and 02
and thus the
Possible values of B: 01, 10, 11, 20
Similarly digits of D should be opposite of A, thus the possible values are
01, 10, 20, 30, 40. .. . 90. .11, 21
Now Consider the largest values
For A/D : D should be 90 and A 09
For B/C : C should be 11 and B 11
09 – 11 – 11 – 90 (MM – DD- YYYY)
i.e 11th Sep 1190
From where you got the puzzle and what is the ans

Thanks for the responce nishit.
I saw this question in a material provided by my friend, which he had downloaded from net.
Well the answer to the above answer is 09-31-1390,
Though my doubt got cleared almost through your wonderful explaination , i still dont understand that why it is only 1390, y not 1190 as u got the answer, why not any number less than 20.
Is it because we always have to opt for the maximum possible value.
Please let me know if you understand this , am sure you will.
Thanks again for the explaination.

that’s right. .i did not consider date 31(that was my mistake) and so arrived at a different ans. .
